Wroclaw

I checked out of the hotel at 8:00 am & caught the tram to the bus station.  The Polskibus was a double decker bus & was an express bus (no stops) to Wroclaw.  Wroclaw is Poland's 4th largest city with about 650,000 people.  The cost for the bus ticket was only $9 & they even offered some free snacks during the trip, we arrived 3 hours 10 minutes later.  After arriving in Wroclaw, I stopped at the train station to get my ticket for tomorrow & then hopped on the tram to the hotel.

I had a free room credit from hotels.com from some hotels that I booked earlier on my trip, so I was able to use it in Wroclaw.  The hotel was next to a big shopping mall & 1/4 mile from the main square.  The room was nice & had a view of a large church across the street.  They had an interesting car parked in front of the hotel with a Nebraska license plate.

After checking into the hotel, I headed down to the main square.  They had booths set up with different types of food plus arts & crafts.  They also had this strangely dressed guy drawing portraits, not sure of the story behind his outfit.

Fried bread with a meat topping (lagosze) & stuffed pancakes (nalesniki)

After walking around the main square for a bit & some other parts of the city, I headed out for a 5 mile run.  I then headed back to the square for dinner, had a nice meal of some type of meat & cheese stuffed pies.  I took some photos of the square at night.  I head to Germany in the morning, the logistics are pretty complicated to get there.  As someone I worked with used to say " I am still trying to get my minds wrapped around it".

Here are a few more photos from my day in Wroclaw.

These gnome statues are in different spots around the city.
