The train ride from Budapest to Prague didn't start out well, the price for the ticket at the station was $20 higher than it was online. However, the ticket was still only $55 for the 7 hour trip. I had 6 person compartment to myself most of the time, so it was a fairly comfortable trip. It was fairly easy to find an ATM at the Prague train station & then hop on the subway. The apartment where I was staying was about 10 minutes from the center of town by subway. It was a nice 1 bedroom place with a kitchen.
The weather was not great for the first 1.5 days, in the 50s & overcast/drizzling. Prague is a place I have always wanted to visit. I have a Prague guidebook that purchased 10 years hoping to get here one day. I spent the first day just walking around town & looking at the interesting buildings.
The Jewish quarter had several old synagogues & a small cemetery that supposedly has about 100,000 bodies buried there (in some places up to 12 people deep).
I also went to the most famous sights in Prague, the Charles Bridge & the clock on the main square. I got some really photos of the bridge at night.
The weather improved the last two days of my visit & I also moved from an apartment to the Park Inn Prague for another free 2 night stay. The hotel was great & close the river with a nice bike path along it that I used for a few runs. I was upgraded to a nice executive room with a private terrace.
I wonder how to get to rooms 515 & 516?
I visited the Prague Castle complex which is huge & also walked around the little quarter area. There were a lot musicians on the Charles Bridge & street performers in the main square. I liked Prague, although it seemed most people didn't smile & we're pretty reserved.
I am going for a 1 day visit to Cesky Krumlov which is 3 hours south of Prague by bus. I leave on bus at 9:00 am.
Here are some photos from visit to Prague.
