The bus station is right next to the harbor & the main tourist area called the Riva. It has a really good layout with lots of benches facing the sea with plenty of restaurants there too. There are also many interesting old buildings as you head away from the Riva.
The small 4 room hotel that I stayed in was only 5 minutes away. Natasa, the hotel owner was really nice & had plenty of suggestions on places to see & eat.
The Riva sits next to an area called Diolectian's Palace which is an ancient Roman palace built about 1700 years ago. They have a basement area of the old palace that you could visit. I also did the prerequisite tower climb that seems to be in every place I visit. It had a great view of the city, although the last half of the tower is up some open rusty metal staircase.
As I was finishing dinner at a seafood place, I noticed two people from the group tour to Montenegro. They are a really nice couple visiting Europe from Argentina, they were fun to talk with. They were heading to Amsterdam the next morning.
I am doing a day trip to Trogir in the morning, it is a 45 minute bus ride from Split.
The photo of the tower reflecting off the lake looks like a painting! Very cool! You're sure seeing some interesting towns along the way. How many different locations do you anticipate visiting during your trip?
ReplyDeleteThanks, the camera has a special setting to optimize the colors during the sunset. I am staying in 19 different cities, but doesn't include the day trips I am making to a few others.
